Score My Art Terms of Service
An artist-friendly agreement for sharing and improving your work
Last updated: April 22, 2026
Plain-language summary
Score My Art exists to help artists receive useful feedback, discover strong work, and bring more attention to artists. You keep ownership of your artwork. We do not sell your artwork or claim it as ours. When you upload artwork, you give us the limited permission we need to show it in Score My Art, process it for feedback and scoring, and, in narrow cases, promote the artist and the Score My Art community with clear credit.
This summary is here to make the Terms easier to understand. The full Terms below are the agreement that applies when you use Score My Art.
1. Who these Terms apply to
These Terms of Service apply when you access or use Score My Art, including our website, web app, future mobile apps, feedback tools, scoring features, messaging features, and related services. By creating an account, uploading artwork, submitting feedback, or using Score My Art, you agree to these Terms.
2. Your artwork belongs to you
You keep all ownership rights in the artwork, images, titles, descriptions, profile information, comments, critiques, and other content you upload or submit to Score My Art, which we call "Your Content." Nothing in these Terms transfers copyright ownership in Your Content to Score My Art.
We will not sell your artwork, license your artwork as standalone stock imagery, mint it as an NFT, place it on merchandise, or use it to train generative AI models without your separate, explicit permission.
3. The limited permission you give Score My Art
To operate Score My Art, you give us a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free license to host, store, reproduce, resize, crop, display, transmit, and otherwise use Your Content only as reasonably needed to:
- show your artwork and profile inside Score My Art;
- allow other users to score, critique, comment on, and interact with your artwork;
- create thumbnails, previews, resized versions, backups, and technical copies needed to run the service;
- moderate, protect, troubleshoot, and improve the service;
- share or repost selected public artwork for Score My Art community promotion, such as highlighting highly scored work, featuring artists, or encouraging people to visit your Score My Art profile; and
- comply with legal obligations and enforce these Terms.
This permission is limited to Score My Art purposes. It does not let us sell your image files or claim that we created your artwork. When we feature or share your artwork outside Score My Art for promotional purposes, we will credit you using your Score My Art username, artist name, or other profile credit available to us, unless you ask us not to use a specific credit.
If we want to use your artwork in a paid advertisement, merchandise, a standalone licensing opportunity, or another use that goes beyond community promotion and operation of the service, we will ask for separate permission.
4. Public sharing and social media
Score My Art includes public and community-facing features. Artwork you upload may be visible to other users and may be discoverable through public pages, rankings, artist profiles, social sharing links, or promotional posts. We may share selected public artwork on Score My Art social media channels or marketing materials to celebrate artists, showcase strong scores, explain the service, or invite new artists to participate.
We want this sharing to help artists, not surprise them. If we feature your artwork and you would like us to remove a promotional post that we control, contact us at contact@scoremyart.com. We will review the request and make reasonable efforts to remove or update the material from channels we control.
5. What you promise when you upload
You are responsible for Your Content. By uploading or submitting content, you represent that you have the rights needed to share it on Score My Art and to grant the limited permissions described in these Terms. Do not upload artwork, photos, reference images, text, or other materials if doing so would violate another person's copyright, trademark, privacy, publicity, or other rights.
6. Content that is not allowed
Score My Art is meant to be a public, constructive, artist-centered community. We may remove, hide, restrict, or decline to promote content at our sole discretion, especially where content may be inappropriate, unlawful, harmful, or inconsistent with the spirit of the service.
Do not upload or submit content that includes or promotes:
- explicit nudity, pornography, sexual acts, or highly sexualized imagery;
- sexualized depictions of minors, or any content involving child exploitation or abuse;
- non-consensual intimate imagery, invasive imagery, or content that violates someone's privacy;
- graphic violence, gore, cruelty, or content intended primarily to shock or disturb;
- hate speech, hateful symbols, harassment, threats, bullying, or attacks based on protected characteristics;
- self-harm instructions, encouragement of suicide or eating disorders, or content that glorifies serious harm;
- terrorism, extremist activity, criminal activity, weapons trafficking, illegal drugs, or other regulated goods or services;
- malware, spam, scams, deceptive activity, or attempts to manipulate scores or feedback; or
- anything else we reasonably believe is unlawful, unsafe, offensive, or inappropriate for Score My Art.
Because art can be nuanced, context matters. We may make judgment calls, and we may remove content even if it is not specifically listed above.
7. Feedback, scoring, and community conduct
Score My Art is built around feedback. You agree to keep critiques constructive, honest, and respectful. Do not harass artists, manipulate scores, create fake accounts, scrape the service, interfere with the site, or use Score My Art in a way that harms the community or the service.
Scores, comments, badges, rankings, and feedback are community and platform features. They are not professional appraisals, guarantees of artistic value, or promises of sales, representation, visibility, or success.
8. Moderation and account action
We may review content automatically, manually, or both. We may remove content, limit visibility, issue warnings, restrict features, suspend accounts, or terminate accounts when we believe it is necessary to protect artists, users, Score My Art, or the public.
If you believe we made a mistake, contact us at contact@scoremyart.com. We are not required to restore content or accounts, but we will consider good-faith reports.
9. Deleting your account or artwork
You may delete artwork or request account deletion through available account tools or by contacting us. After deletion, we may retain limited copies for backup, security, legal, fraud-prevention, moderation, or recordkeeping purposes. We may also retain comments, scores, logs, and non-identifying analytics as needed to operate and protect the service.
10. Third-party services
Score My Art may link to or interact with third-party services, including social media platforms, email providers, analytics tools, hosting providers, and payment or mobile app platforms in the future. Those services may have their own terms and privacy practices. We are not responsible for third-party services that we do not control.
11. Changes to Score My Art or these Terms
We may update the service and these Terms over time, including as Score My Art grows into mobile apps or adds new features. If we make material changes, we will take reasonable steps to notify users, such as posting the updated Terms or providing notice in the service. Your continued use of Score My Art after changes become effective means you accept the updated Terms.
12. Disclaimers and limits
Score My Art is provided "as is" and "as available." We do not promise that the service will always be uninterrupted, error-free, secure, or available. To the fullest extent allowed by law, Score My Art will not be liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, exemplary, or punitive damages, or for lost profits, lost data, loss of goodwill, or unauthorized use of Your Content by third parties.
13. Contact
Questions about these Terms, artwork use, takedown requests, or moderation can be sent to contact@scoremyart.com.
Note for launch
These Terms are intended as practical, artist-friendly starter language. Before public launch, Score My Art should have this page reviewed by a qualified attorney, especially for privacy, minors, copyright takedown procedures, mobile app requirements, and state or country-specific rules.
